Booker pays homage to this elusive cognitive concept through his cast of troubled characters. Their hallucinatory thoughts and situations illustrate the surreal functionality of the brain. It is an haunting display of extraordinary imagery that is as unpredictable as life itself. This was a thoughtful and unique debut novel. (
